Dear Journal,
I am writing today to tell about a time when I committed an act of Civil Disobedience.

During the 1970's I committed an act of disobedience. 450 university, college, and high school campuses across the Unites States were shut down by our student strikes. Myself along with about 100,000 other protesters, gathered to protest of the opposition of the Vietnam War. After the American Invasion on Cambodia, students were furious with the killings of four students at the Kent State University. It was time to show the nation the way we felt. Myself as others are protesting against this because nobody wanted the war to continue; they wanted to put an end to it. These strikes will continue until the war ends. Violence should not be happening in universities, colleges, and high schools as a cause of the war. Students were afraid of getting drafted and not wanted to get involved. We are all hoping that the war comes to and end soon so these events do not happen anymore.

Even though I was trying to not commit my act of disobedience, I still have to resist and not feel that I should protest. My goal is to passively resist to this situation. Violence is never the answer to anything, I believe what I am going to do is ignore the situation. It's tempting to speak my mind and talk to people about what I feel about the shootings because of the war, but after all, everyone has heir own opinions. Listening to what people have to say and not talk myself i believe is a better solution.

I am not alone in this act of disobedience, thousands of students across the world feel anger as well. Just about 450 colleges, Universities, and High School's participated in protests against having the war to continue. I don't think I would ever want to be in this position alone because it shouldn't be of one person's concern, everyone should know about it.

If there were some consequences in this act of disobedience they wouldn't all be negative ones. When we went on strike the worst that could have happened was if someone got sentenced to jail for going beyond their limits and speaking their minds. Also for committing an act of violence. If I murdered someone such as the four killings at out University, I could possibly get sentenced to death. On the other hand, the consequence could have been a good one. If we continued doing the protests and speaking our minds without anyone stopping us, our voices might be heard and the end to war might come to an end along with all other events that follow.
